terrmiffic

i read one of ur reviews to that zerobass dude, how u were sayin that noone good gets that much respect on this site. i was wondering if u knew of any other sites that run the way ngs music portal does. i wouldnt call myself much of a computer user except for the od fl song so my searching skills are somwat undeveloped.

anyways twas nice to get that off my chest and if u ever need a half decent review of ur work id be glad to.

this song here i think is a really good progressive trance song. i like everything about it, except theres just a little umf missing from the drums, and at the beggining theres a minor chord progression that hits a blatently major note that just does not work. u must hear it, it really is ugly. other than that i like the use of hi hats and snares that hit on then resonate at 8/64ths, sounds really good.

by the way do u listen much to infected mushroom? if so how sweet are they!! if not i would seriously recomend a good listening to. they have riffs very similar to some of yours and their chord patterns are kinda similar too...kinda :)

anyways thats enough from me, maybe u could review one of my sounds some time? if ud like to id recomment f1 safari on my link page.

keep it real and yeah keep making qualitah music.

rap songs dont need words

i like the intro part being separate from the main body of the song. the main body also is really good. if u wanna get insainly technical i would say maybe have a bass melody in the hearing threshold that compliments the drums, just to harden the loop and add a little more continuity. also maybe turn the bass down cause theres a bit of feedback throught the chorus and verse. the scratching works really well and the goodnight sample suits well. sorry if my analysis of ur stuff seems over critical, i certainly couldnt do any better, im just offering an opinion. keep goin with the hip hop beats bro, its sounding sweet!!

chead86 responds:

This is the kinda review I like, tips to help me improve the little things in my beats, so thanks for that. I always have trouble with the bass because i have a sub, so it's hard to judge whether or not another person's computer is going to take the sound.

bouncey

i must say the drums loop is very very nice. lotta bounce in the rythym. a real song to crank on an ipod walking around downtown. the main bell melody is sweet, but the second one i dont like as much. i use fruity loops for my stuff and i dont know the intricassys of other programs. by this i mean that the thick leady melody that does the chords is a nice choice of instrument in relation to the bass and the strings. gives it a harder edge to a calm collected song. once again however i must dissagree with that second bell melody. maybe just one or 2 clashy notes. other than that id say theres nothing wrong at all with this. top shelf!!

chead86 responds:

Ah, finally a lengthy review, i appreciate it. The second bell melody was meant to be a LOT quieter, and i didn't mean for it to come in at the same time as the first one. thnx again for the review.

cozmic

thats some funky beatage goin on right there. sounds like a video game ive played before but i cant quite put my finger on in. all in all though its a well balanced song, just about every melody compliments the others (except maybe that string instrument). the drippy water effect works well as the highlighted instrument and the 80's echoed snare does well. more or less i like this song a whole bunch. keep up the gourd work! ^-^

chead86 responds:

Thnx for the review, I kinda meant for the String to be off-key as to give it that creepy vibe. And i'll try and keep up the gourd work.

video game eh?

doesnt clash at any one place, infact tis a song that is very pleasurable to listen to. the chicks voice right at the forth beat works really well as a link especially witht the chord progresion. really well done!! great job!! :)

ZeRo-BaSs responds:

THX!

fuknah monkah

cough*downsyde*cough. funkah!! sweet flute sample..oh and sax, well done not keeping the volumes at the original levels like so many do. could have used a bass instrument that bounces off the beat like the flute does, just to funk it up real nice. the drums toward the end could use a bit of volume turndownage. other than that the whole antique record player effect compliments the flute, u know the scratchy ness of the flute sample. only bit i didnt really like was the tempo change at the first change of the song. the first bit and the last bit were great though. :) keep it real

ZeRo-BaSs responds:

angryhippos i dunno why u seems to be familiar....bah nevermind ^^

Thx for your feedback i'm glad u got the "antique record player effect" ^_^

yay, frantic japanease techno

i like ur song very much, yet i dont like this style of music that much, kinda like that song 'party 4 u "holy nite mix"'. but yeh its about time somone put a song on here that actually has a really good mix of non clashing instruments and control of effects and volume.doesnt sound like fruity loops, thats the only program im familiar with though :). once again really nice use of filters and flangers. tempo shift is nice too! deserved of first place.

note by note

k.... dont like the violin thing at the start. still goin.... ugh turn down the sytrus instruments......... sounds a bit tangly there... damn u volume... hey now ur talkin.. i like the horn sounding part the insrtument wen the drums change...this is heaps better.... yeh i really like this, maybe have an underlying bass instrument.... that riff with the breathy sample is good, did u make it or is it a riff under simsynth? works well in the song. volume ishues again, kinda cancels out the bbass instruments. sorry bout the overcriticality of my review, im not tryin to diss ur stuff im just suggesting wat u could work on. i do like this song a whole lot it just needs some minor tweaking. :)

ehhhROFLCOPTER responds:

heh aite man. thanks. BUT i must add, this, as one of my first songs ever, had NO premade simsynth and i didnt even realize there was a whole mess of genarators till i "discovered " them when i was exploring the program. no help manual for charvin =D.

woop

i like ur classical stuff, ur really good at redoing classical stuff or creating ur own. my only whinge is ur use of volume. some instruments completly drown out other instruments. and if u wanna stop cymbols in mid crash u gotta bring up the channel settings, smp, then ever so slightly raise the nob that says crf in the precomputed effects. then highlight the button under loop that says use loop points (if it doesnt already highlight). after that its a matter of entering the right length note in the piano roll dealy. u can do that with all instruments exept sytrus', simsynths and wasps...more or less any instrument that brings up a different mix board wen u click on it ( i havent worked out how i can edit that stuff in other instruments yet ;o;) yeh anyways keep it up and dont upgrade to fl 5.

ehhhROFLCOPTER responds:

upgrade? im using fl 5 man.
